Brandon Hancock is an accredited cybersecurity consultant and the founder of GovCon Cyber . The mission of GovCon Cyber is to provide an online resource library to help small and medium sized business owners and public contractors understand federal and state level cybersecurity regulations. Before becoming a lawyer, Brandon spent several years as a military intelligence professional in the United States Army. Brandon became fluent in Mandarin Chinese during his military service. Now a service disabled veteran, Brandon helps other veterans with benefits claims. Since founding GovCon Cyber in the summer of 2024, Brandon has compiled and published a collection of laws, regulations, policies, and contract terms related to federal and state government contractors’ cybersecurity requirements. Brandon is creating materials that clearly explain cybersecurity legal and regulatory requirements to contractors without an information technology background. Earlier this year, Brandon became the first J.D. student to graduate from the George Washington University Law School with concentrations in government procurement and cybersecurity law. He is a Coalition for Government Procurement scholar. Brandon is an active member of the American Bar Association Section of Public Contract Law and has a firm grasp of public contracts. While a law student, he drafted reports and studies on statutory exclusion for labor law violations, U.S. Department of Defense Bid Protests, and cybersecurity considerations in the revision of the Model Procurement Code for State and Local Governments. He regularly speaks to federal and state contractors on issues such as bid protests, regulatory compliance, cybersecurity requirements, small business certification, and more.
